IT-Eyes™ is a monitoring and targeting solution designed to provide the Data Centre Manager with the metrics they require to meet the ever changing demands and obligations relating to Data Centre energy usage in the 21st century.
With the recent implementation of Regression Analysis alongside standard reporting and graphing tools offering historical and real-time metrics for power usage across the DC with granularity ranging from individual outlet metering right up to DC PUE and DCiE, IT-Eyes™ now offers prediction tools based on historical data.
Conforming to the Automatic Monitoring and Targeting (AMT) criteria for the Enhanced Capital Allowance Scheme (ECA), the installation of the IT-Eyes™ software creates the ‘umbrella’ for all compliant components of the monitoring solution underneath it be included in a ‘Component Based AMT system’ ECA application.
With the IT-Eyes™iServe multi-protocol communications server at its core, information can be gathered not only from the latest SNMP compatible devices, but also an enviably wide range of legacy BMS, power, environmental and life safety systems using both generic and manufacturer specific communication protocols.
Power, environmental and life safety system information is displayed in a graphical format based around the DC floor plan. Dynamic ‘traffic light’ icons indicate the current state and health of the monitored devices.
The information on the dynamic icon floor plans can be easily be selected based on Row, Zone, POD, customer or cost centre or any customer specified metric using graphical hyperlinks to ‘drill down’ to view the metrics from selected cabinets.
Data Grid technology is used to provide capacity and usage information on the floor plans. Data-Grid Thresholds can be set to alert the operators and identify unbalanced phases and loads using traffic light indicators. PDU, Pan and Phase metrics are identified and displayed at the touch of a button.
Data is polled at regular, customer adjustable, intervals and stored in a Microsoft SQL database for data mining. The G.U.I offers standard and customisable reports to display the historical data, and in addition, the data is also available for data mining from third party applications and reporting tools.
System Alarm events ranging from user adjustable threshold breaches to communications failure are processed, stored, filtered and retransmitted via SNMP to third party NMS systems (Tivoli, HP Openview etc.) or in e-mail form. The Alarm system is configured with Alarm Escalation functionality to intelligently monitor individual alarms to identify trends and automatically increase the severity of the notifications according to user configurable rules.
As a Client or Slave solution, Its ODBC, API and Web service integration capabilities and customisable G.U.I make it the perfect companion for those DCIM applications whose power monitoring functionality was purely designed to provide the metrics required for accurate capacity planning (Amps, Kw etc) as opposed to those of a fully-fledged Automatic Monitoring and Targeting solution such as IT-Eyes™.
